More About High-End BMWs
Who hasn’t heard of BMW? The German company has been producing stellar cars ever since 1928.
Most people are familiar with many BMW models that they see on the road, including the BMW 5 Series and the X Series SUVs and crossovers. The 4 and 8 Series also come with Gran Coupe models that grace roadways regularly.
The true luxury experience comes with top-notch models, such as those within the M and Z Series.
The M Series is a high-performance line that consists of two-door, four-door, and five-door coupes, sedans, convertibles, and SUVs. Truly, this luxury line can suit the needs and tastes of just about anyone.
One particularly standout model is the M3, a four-door coupe or convertible; it serves as a high-performance version of the 3 Series. Of course, the two-door coupe M4 has to be mentioned as it replaced the M3. With a convertible option, the M4 has a more powerful, turbocharged engine than the M3. This power is complemented with superior handling, braking, and suspension systems. Moving up is the M5. This four-door sports sedan is an incredibly powerful vehicle that can go from 0 to 62 in just 3.4 seconds.
The Z models are two-seat roadsters and are all noteworthy in some way. It all started with the Z1, which experienced limited production between 1989 to 1991. The James Bond film GoldenEye introduced the Z3 in 1996. This debut ensured widespread popularity, and the company produced this model until 2002. The limited-edition Z8 was produced only from 2000 to 2003. BMW followed that up with three generations of the Z4: the E85 and E86 Z4 from 2002 to 2008, the E89 Z4 from 2009 to 2016, and the current G29 Z4, which was introduced in 2018.
iModels for the Future
iModels are electric and hybrid vehicles and include the i3 and the i8. The i3 is an electric five-door mini hatchback, while the i8 is a more traditional-looking two-door hybrid roadster. Some of the company’s other hybrid models include turbocharged or four-cylinder engines and electric motors.
The best feature of these models is understandably their great fuel economy. The i8 plug-in hybrid, for example, gets 76 mpge or 29 mpg when running on pure gasoline. It’s tough for a traditionally powered luxury vehicle to match those numbers!
